Upsizing OEM tires

My stock front 255's and back 275's are about to be replaced. I'd like a bit more traction. I'm thinking Front 265's and Rear 295's. Is that too much for stock OEM replacement Michelin Pilot Sport AS? Would Rear 285's be enough?

I'd go with 255 front and 285 rear on the stock wheels. A 285 is safe on the stock 9.5 inch wheels, but a 295 really needs a wider wheel to fit properly. Also keep the rolling diameter difference between front and rear under 1% or you'll risk damaging the transfer case. A 265 front is pushing it on an 8.5 inch wheel and might rub. Are you sticking with the stock wheels?

Sounds good thanks. Coincidentally I went by Discount Tire today and asked if I needed to replace them yet (they are 6 years old with about 5/32's left and 16k miles). They said they were still safe and not cracked (yet).
