Toyota's Lexus luxury car brand can't get enough of its F performance line, adding a hot-performance midsize sedan to complement its coupe.

The new GS F that rolled on stage at the North American International Auto Show here Tuesday will have the same engine as the RC F coupe, a 5-liter V-8 that spits out 467 horsepower, a vast increase from the standard engine's 306-horsepower. GS F and the coupe, the RC-F, will share the V-8.

GS F will come with four different driving modes ? Normal, Eco, Sport and Sport S+. That last one is meant for performance enthusiasts who take their car to the track to put it through its paces. There is a torque-vectoring differential to improve cornering.

Not only does Lexus profit from the higher prices that come with the F line, the cars attract younger buyers. Lexus chief Jeff Bracken says customers are typically five to 12 years younger than the average Lexus buyer. In keeping with that theme, the GS F is dressed up, with more aggressive styling and touches to give it a younger feel.

It rides lower than other GS models, with forged 19-inch wheels and a subtle carbon-fiber spoiler.

Lexus is expecting relative low volume for the model ? about 1,600 cars a year. It arrives late this year, and pricing hasn't been announced.
